Dillon Swanson at the

The Well-Tempered Future:

American Guild of Organists National Convention

Day Number One!

July 3, 2022

After a long day of travel, we had the pleasure to begin the week with a service of choral evensong hosted by the Epiphany Parish in Seattle. Following a brief dinner break we then arrived at Benaroya Hall to hear the St. Cecilia recital played by David Briggs. The performance was absolutely outstanding!! The evening ended with a beautiful reception in the hall lobby.

I’ve already had the pleasure of meeting so many wonderful new friends and colleagues. This week is going to be very formative and I’m extremely grateful to be here in Seattle.

The first full day of the convention was filled with concerts galore!! Hearing so many profound musicians play incredible music on some of the Pacific Northwest!! This afternoon we had the chance to worship together in Lutheran Midday Prayer. We had an hour of Wurlitzer for dessert this evening at the historic Paramount Theatre in downtown Seattle. It’s been an incredibly impressive and inspiring day! Off to workshops and meetings tomorrow morning!! Stay tuned for more as the week goes on!

Tuesday and Wednesday were filled with lots of workshops and worship opportunities including Vespers at St. James Cathedral and the O Antiphons Liturgy at St. Mark’s Cathedral. We had the pleasure of attending a Festival of Psalms as well. All highly impressive and very inspiring.

I had the privilege of sharing what our chapter is up to at a chapter leadership meeting. Our chapter was also recognized for our commitment to 75 years of music making.
